9 - Boundaries – Another way of seeing

Jul 28, 2026

Welcome to your day of life, kindred spirit.

I appreciate sharing a few moments enjoying reconnecting with ourselves, nature and each other over this Conversation Cuppa.

Have you ever been so sure about what you're seeing

that you stopped looking?

It happens remarkably easily.

Someone says something...

...and we decide what they meant.

Something hurts...

...and we begin imagining what it means for tomorrow.

Something doesn't work...

...and perhaps we quietly decide it won't work next time either.

Nothing unusual about that.

We need ways of making sense of what happens around us.

But sometimes...

...the way we've learned to see something can quietly become

the only way we think it can be seen.

At the Energy Café, that's part of what I call the Drama of Life.

Not because what we're seeing isn't real.

But because one view can begin to feel like the whole view.

And that's when something interesting can happen.

We don't necessarily need a new answer.

Perhaps we simply need...

another window.

From the ground, they are fields.

Maize.

Sunflowers.

Soil.

Boundaries.

But from hundreds of kilometres above Earth...

...something else appears.

Reds.

Greens.

Blues.

Oranges.

An extraordinary patchwork that looks almost like a piece of modern art.

Yet this is farmland in South Africa's Maize Triangle, seen through the radar of the NASA

ISRO NISAR satellite.

Radar looks differently from our eyes.

Rather than simply seeing the colour of crops, it can reveal aspects of their structure and

change.

Across repeated passes, scientists can observe fields growing, vegetation thickening, crops

being harvested and landscapes changing through the season.

Nothing on the ground needed to change for another part of the picture to become visible.

Only the way of looking changed.

We've saved you a window seat at the Energy Café...

...looking out into nature through one of its gentle points of view.

Perhaps our own lives sometimes invite another look too.

Something hurts.

A conversation doesn't go as expected.

Someone behaves in a way we don't understand.

Something we've known for years appears so familiar that we stop wondering whether there

might be anything else to see.

Our first view isn't necessarily wrong.

It simply may not be the only view available.

A tree can be shade.

A boundary problem.

A beautiful presence.

Look another way and the same tree is also participating with water, soil, fungi, carbon, birds,

insects and atmosphere.

The tree hasn't changed.

Another way of looking has allowed different relationships to become visible.

Perhaps our Brilliant Body offers the same invitation.

When something hurts, naturally our attention goes there.

My knee.

My pain.

My tiredness.

The experience is real.

But our Brilliant Body continues relating far beyond the boundary of the thing currently

demanding our attention.

Breathing.

Circulating.

Responding.

Adapting.

Communicating.

Perhaps the boundary around what hurts isn't necessarily the boundary around what is

possible.

And maybe another way of seeing doesn't require us to dismiss what we saw first.

NISAR doesn't tell us the view from the ground is wrong.

It simply gives us another window.

Perhaps we can offer ourselves the same possibility.

Look again.

Not to find a better answer.

Not to force ourselves to think positively.

Simply to become curious about what else might be here.

As we continue walking with the wisdom of our Brilliant Body, one Vital Step at a time,

perhaps we can allow ourselves another point of view.

A sensation may reveal a relationship.

A boundary may reveal a connection.

Something familiar may reveal something we hadn't noticed...

...yet.

Perhaps feeling better now doesn't always begin by changing what we're looking at.

Sometimes...

it begins by changing how we're looking.

And that, dear kindred spirit, is enough.

You are already enough.

Happy worthday!

It's worth pausing for a moment to...

...celebrate our day of life by looking again at something that has already caught our attention.

...acknowledge that what we first notice can be real without being the whole picture.

...appreciate whatever else becomes visible when we allow ourselves another point of view.

The Conversation Cuppa is always ready at the Energy Café.

Until next time...

…enjoy reconnecting to yourself, nature and each other.
