Welcome to My Garden Story
This is the story of some of my biological adventures and flowerings.
I was told I only had a few weeks to live.
Yet, I decided to listen to my inner voice...
the power breathing me.
Against the odds, I survived.
And I went on to thrive...
and keep on thriving.
I kept on Feeling Better Now …and better and better through many strenuous and extreme circumstances.
Along the way, I wrote My Brilliant Body and developed a simple way of applying the researched information that had become part of my own journey.
Today, I enjoy sharing what I've discovered with others and supporting their own possibilities for being well...
for Feeling Better Now.
Perhaps the most important discovery was sparked with…
…the conversation between myself and my body.
Suddenly and unexpectedly, I fell to the floor and found myself facing an extremely challenging situation.
The enormity of the hospital insisting on brain surgery was generating turbulent waves through those nearest to me.
The shock to my nervous system felt downright terrifying.
Yet, I knew that my mind was my most powerful asset.
So, I decided that if flowers could grow through concrete, then my mind could grow me through this apparently impenetrable situation.
Like the flowers, I took my cues from nature's rhythms and found my own way through the "concrete"...
and continued to blossom.
Thirty-six months later, I had retrained as a Life Mastery Coach, moved house and co-authored a bestselling book.
My Brilliant Body is a practical companion for exploring what supports vitality, wellbeing and our body's natural capacity not only to survive...
…but to thrive.
“I wrote My Brilliant Body to share what I discovered through my own biological adventures.
So you can explore your possibilities for thriving too.
So we can thrive together.” – J ‘ X

Meet J ‘ X
J ’ X is a bestselling author who has studied and applied transformational success principles for more than 45 years.
Her own path has travelled through many different creative landscapes.
She worked at the Scottish Design Centre in Glasgow before going freelance. As an artist, her work was published by Canns Down Press and exhibited throughout the UK.
J ’ X has written four books and a play, including two co-authored books: Strategic Conversations with Chris Voss and The Leadership Playbook with Jack Canfield. Each, in its own way, explores the unfolding of human potential.
Through experiences of mental and physical trauma, she also gained valuable insights that grew from her relationship with art, music, literature and design, while mentoring others to flourish through their own circumstances.
With her understanding of architectural processes and the relationship between our inner and outer environments, she founded InsideOut by Design, bringing together decades of exploration into human potential, creativity and wellbeing.
Today, that continuing journey flowers through the Energy Café—a place for enjoying Feeling Better Now by reconnecting with nature, ourselves and each other.
As a certified Life Mastery Consultant, J ’ X continues to support others in exploring their own possibilities for wellbeing and a life they love, including through the gentle art of redirection she calls Art-yoga.
Awards & Urban Village
J ’ X received the social housing Helen McGregor Award and has served continuously for more than 15 years as a voluntary Chair or Vice Chair of a major housing association.
During that time, she was involved in the design and delivery of an urban village.
After earning her MSc in Architecture, J ’ X went on to share a stage with Cliff Hague, former President of the Royal Town Planning Institute, exploring the importance of planning and its relationship with people's mental and physical health.
These experiences continued to deepen her understanding that our wellbeing does not exist in isolation.
We are always in relationship with the environments in which we live.
University Role
As Architectural Designer in Residence at Robert Gordon University, J ’ X mentored students through studio support and live extracurricular architectural projects.
These grew from her relationship with art, architecture, community and the environments we share.
Among them were community garden art projects that she devised and led, including the Craiginches Community Garden, created on the site of the former prison in Aberdeen.
These projects explored what can happen when people participate in transforming the places around them...
and, in doing so, discover new possibilities for growing together.
Art-Yoga
J ’ X is the founder of InsideOut by Design, created from a desire to help people immerse themselves in a life they truly love.
As a qualified Life Mastery Consultant, she has continued exploring how we can unfold our inner potential and wellbeing while participating more consciously in the life we would love to live.
Along the way, she developed a gentle way of proceeding that she calls Art-yoga—the art of noticing where our attention is flowing and remembering that redirection towards another possibility is always available.
Today, this continuing journey is flowering through the Energy Café...
a place for enjoying Feeling Better Now by reconnecting with nature, ourselves and each other.
Because perhaps another possibility begins the moment we open ourselves to it.
J ’ X sees everyone's "place" as an opportunity—a possibility to participate in the ongoing design of a life they truly love and the legacy that continues growing from it.
Her work extends beyond people and organisations into legacy—the relationships, possibilities and flowerings that continue beyond any single moment.
She believes it is never too soon or too late to realise that, whatever our circumstances or situation, another possibility may still be present.
Every place.
Every relationship.
Every conversation.
Every moment.
Each offers another possibility to reconsider the deeply familiar conversations we have spoken and listened to so often that they have quietly become our story...
…and to begin recognising the already-well self that has been quietly present within us all along.
A possibility to remember the vitality within us, and so participate more consciously in our own unfolding, allowing more of the beauty within to flower through our relationship with life.
Because perhaps our greatest legacy is not simply what we leave behind...
but the beauty we allow to unfold through us while we are here.
“I had no idea the strain I was unintentionally putting on my body.” Judy/UK
Perhaps Feeling Better Now begins the moment we open ourselves to another possibility.
A possibility to reconsider the deeply familiar conversations that may have quietly become our story.
A possibility to recognise the already-well self that has been present within us all along.
And a possibility to remember the vitality within us, and so participate more consciously in our own unfolding.
If you would enjoy some gentle companionship along the way, Energy Café Qi-mail offers short reflections, seasonal encouragement and simple invitations to help you keep remembering...
you are already well.
You may simply not recognise that yet.

“This isn’t another diet book or vehicle to fleeting trends. This is a wellness book. The book [My brilliant Body] deals with health down to the cellular level and how you can not only promote but maintain your body’s natural regenerative properties by what you consume. Providing technical information for those who are interested. Setting you on the path to enduring vitality and a life of wellness. If you are willing to open yourself to age-old wisdoms, that can quite literally transform your life – this is the book for you.”

“This wee book [My brilliant Body] has made me look at my body and food in a completely different way. I had no idea the body put such an effort into cleaning itself. Always a great believer in berries, I keep a tub beside me at work. But had no idea of the strain other things were putting on my body. I was able to access food in a completely different manner going forward. Quite inspiring, I feel it would be good to keep a copy on hand to refer to and also to give a wee bit of encouragement. Really thought provoking and being a fellow sufferer of arthritis on Methotrexate, I consider myself fortunate knowing such a brilliant wee book.”

“A must read for anyone suffering from arthritis. This book [My brilliant Body] demonstrates the power of food and how it can be harnessed to enable us to heal our own bodies. Very well researched and so easy to read and understand.”

“A very interesting book [My brilliant Body]. Most unexpected, enjoyed it as a guide, I love seeing more research and information, even more would be great.”
