A Garden of Life reflection

Healing With the Forest

Thank you for joining me at the Energy Café.

Select your drink, settle into your preferred spot, and let’s spend a few moments reconnecting with nature, ourselves and each other over a Conversation Cuppa.

Sometimes we believe that every solution comes with a sacrifice.

We are told that progress means giving something up, that healing one part of life must inevitably damage another.

The drama of life quietly encourages us to think in terms of either…or.

Yet, what if nature has been showing us another way all along?

What if healing can honour what already exists while gently inviting new possibilities to grow?

All around the world, communities face a painful choice: embrace renewable energy or protect precious forests. Too often, the price of solar power has been deforestation—ecosystems stripped away for rows of flat black panels. The healing we long for in our planet’s climate seems to demand another wound in nature’s body.

But a new vision is taking root: solar trees.

A different kind of growth.

Unlike sprawling solar farms that clear the land, solar trees rise vertically, like their living namesakes. Their panels branch upward like leaves, catching the sun while allowing light to filter down to the forest floor. Research suggests that thoughtfully designed solar tree installations can generate renewable electricity while preserving the vast majority of existing forest cover.

These trees don’t compete with life; they collaborate with it.

They offer shade in cities, charging stations for travelers and cooling relief in overheated streets.

More importantly, they remind us that healing technologies are possible when we design with the rhythm of nature rather than against it.

The quiet work of restoration does not force—it allows.

Solar trees embody this spirit.

They show us that progress doesn’t have to mean sacrifice.

Like our own healing journeys, their design honours both what already exists and what can continue to grow.

Healing is something other than erasing what came before.

It is about weaving the past into a stronger future.

Solar trees become a living metaphor for this truth:

We can generate new vitality while keeping roots and ecosystems intact.

Perhaps the same is true within us.

Where in your own life might healing look more like collaboration than sacrifice?

What would it mean to design your days so that what already exists within you is honoured, while fresh energy is gently welcomed?

The next time you walk through a woodland, park or local green space, notice how trees rarely compete for life.

Together, they create a living community where light, soil, water and countless unseen relationships support the flourishing of the whole.

Nature reminds us that we belong together.

Happy Worthday!

It’s worth pausing for a moment to…

...celebrate our day of life by noticing one small way we can honour what is already growing, while gently welcoming new energy into our lives together.

...acknowledge that healing may already be weaving together the old and the new in ways we have yet to notice.

...appreciate the quiet wisdom of our Brilliant Body as it continually seeks balance, renewal and relationship, just as a healthy forest grows through cooperation rather than sacrifice.

The Conversation Cuppa is always ready at the Energy Café.

Until next time...

... enjoy reconnecting to yourself, nature and each other.
